About Us

Shelter Music Maine is inspired by and modeled after Shelter Music Boston. We owe deep thanks and gratitude to its founder, Julie Leven, who continues to offer guidance, support and mentorship.

Shelter Music Maine’s mission is to provide live, interactive chamber music concerts at homeless shelters and other sheltering environments throughout Maine. We believe everyone deserves access to the healing powers of classical music, no matter their circumstances.

Shelter Music Maine was awarded Community Building Grants from the Maine Community Foundation in 2024 & 2026! These grants allow us to continue our work, and we are extremely grateful.
